| 0:30–0:35 | Move and reset | Sanitize and restore equipment |
| 0:35–0:55 | Rotation 2 | Repeat with next group; adapt coaching to learner needs |
| 0:55–1:00 | Move and reset | Sanitize and restore equipment |
| 1:00–1:20 | Rotation 3 | Maintain consistent objectives and evaluation cues |
| 1:20–1:25 | Move and reset | Sanitize and restore equipment |
| 1:25–1:45 | Rotation 4 | Final practice and focused feedback |
| 1:45–2:00 | Whole-group debrief and equipment accountability | Identify common learning needs; arrange additional practice |

Four example EMT stations
1. Scene size-up and primary assessment
Objective: Verbalize scene priorities and identify immediate life threats in a fictional patient encounter.
Setup: Patient actor or manikin, assessment prompt card, timer, instructor observation sheet.
Practice: Two brief paired attempts with rotating patient and observer roles, followed by feedback.
2. Airway and ventilation setup
Objective: Recognize when equipment and assistance are needed, and communicate an airway-management plan consistent with local training standards.
Setup: Training airway manikin, approved practice equipment, infection-control supplies, instructor checklist.
Practice: Coached skill demonstration and short paired repetitions within available time.
3. Trauma assessment priorities
Objective: Identify assessment priorities, communicate significant findings, and explain transport considerations.
Setup: Fictional trauma scenario card, appropriate training supplies, instructor prompts.
Practice: One team-led assessment with role switching, plus a focused second decision point.
4. Patient handoff and reassessment
Objective: Deliver a concise, organized handoff and identify information that requires reassessment.
Setup: Written sample findings, simulated receiving clinician, timer, debrief prompts.
Practice: Short individual verbal handoffs using the same case with different assigned findings.
Before students arrive
- Confirm scope and assessment standards: Match skills to your approved curriculum, equipment, medical direction, and required psychomotor evaluation criteria.
- Check actual equipment counts: If a station has one manikin, assign meaningful peer observation or setup tasks so half the group is not idle.
- Brief each instructor: Agree on station objective, what constitutes successful practice, and when students should be referred for more practice.
- Identify a cleanup plan: Confirm cleaning supplies, equipment reset expectations, and transition pathways.
- Prepare a backup: Have a short discussion or verbal case available if a station runs ahead or equipment fails.
Five-minute debrief prompts
- Which step cost your group the most time, and why?
- Which finding changed the priority of care or communication?
- Where was teamwork effective, and where did roles become unclear?
- Which skill needs another supervised repetition before assessment?
Instructor note: This example is for teaching logistics, not proof of skill competency. Adapt the stations, times, and supervision to local requirements. No real patient information should be entered into a training generator.
